Daily Advent Devotionals:
Christmas @ The Road
This December, the Worship Ministries at WRBC present Stories by the Well.
The physician Luke conducted interviews and did extensive research for his historical account of the life of Jesus. Since he had never met Jesus, he relied on first-person accounts and personal testimony for his narrative, traveling across Israel to find the people who knew Jesus.
During his travels, he no doubt met many people, and one of the places he encountered people probably would have been at a well. For most places in Israel, much of the community life happened around a well. Women and children would draw water, wash clothes and meet friends. Perhaps during one of those encounters, curious children might have questioned Luke’s knowledge of the itinerant preacher Jesus Christ. Was he the Messiah? How do you know?
In our Christmas drama, Luke has just interviewed Mary the Mother of Jesus and is on his way back to Caesarea to rejoin Paul who is in prison there. He and Mary share the stories of Christ’s birth, and the disciple John shares a story to show that Jesus was indeed the Messiah who came to save the world!
Join us on Saturday, Dec. 7 or Sunday, Dec. 8 at 6:30pm to experience the story of Christmas in a unique setting that is sure to delight and inspire people of any age.
