Listening to Pastor Griff Henderson Sunday morning preach over Acts chapter 11 I came across something that caught my attention, flooded my brain and challenged my heart.
“When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose” (Acts 11:23 ESV)
Barnabas was able to see the grace of God when he encountered the church in Antioch. Normally, this is a detail in scripture that tend to overlook, but this stopped me in my tracks. Grace was made visible. How did he see the grace of God? How was this grace manifested in this church? What does grace look like?
After thinking through this a few moments, I then began to apply this to my own life. Do people see the grace of God in my life? Does His grace made visible in me? If we are honest enough to move deeper, past surface level Sunday School answers, this question can create quite a challenging evaluation of our hearts and lives.
I challenge you, think through if and how others see the grace of God being made visible in and through you. What does grace look like in your life?
Something to think about
